Like a previous reviewer, my parents got an iPad 2 for Christmas and needed a wireless router. Since the iPad is the only thing they'd be using wirelessly, I didn't want to spend a lot on a wireless router. It took less than 10 minutes from opening the box to having a wireless signal. Much easier to set up than the Linksys router I use at my house. The range was pretty decent as well. Router is set up in back bedroom/office and it had a good signal across the house (about 45-50 feet away and through 4 walls).

Router has only been up and running a couple of days, but there haven't been any signal issues yet. As soon as my Linksys dies I'll be switching to Netgear.

Within a week the wireless connection started dropping at least 3-4 times a day. After trying some basic things like re-flashing the firmware, reconfiguring the router etc, the tech support lady said that it could be hardware problem. Set-up was cumbersome as well. As someone else has also mentioned in his/her review, the set-up CD was a complete waste. It couldn't detect the hardwired internet connection despite of doing it correctly. When I tried it through the browser, the set-up could not be completed on my Windows 7 laptop, I had to use my XP to do it. Then within a week the connection started dropping.

This Rangemax was a replacement of a Netgear g-router which worked well. But within a year and a half, it gave up on me. Wireless speed came down to ~2mbps from around 15mbps.

Have already returned the Rangemax and bought a Cisco Linksys. Working well so far. Atleast the set-up was very easy. May be its my bad, but no more Netgear products from now on.

This is the second Netgear router I've purchased. The first is in my apartment and this one was a Christmas present for my parents, who wanted to be able to use a wireless laptop in their house. We hooked the router up to their cable modem in the basement and it works very well in all parts of their large, ranch-style house. The wireless works no matter which room we're in, upstairs or down. Set-up is exceedingly simple, as it was with the one we purchased for ourselves. Including plugging in cords, restarting the cable modem, and setting up the wireless account - it took less than 10 minutes.

These routers are great for people who are not experts at networking. The instructions are clear, short, and easy to follow.
