The projection is great! And the red light wouldn't 'dilate your pupils' so you can fall right back to sleep. It works! The atomic clock sync up feature is also very good. However, the first sync up takes a while to work, so you get less of a 'wow' factor out of the box.
A few little problems with this clock:
. if you have *really* bad eyes, you might not see the projected clock reading. Not sure what the manufacturer can do about that.
. the timezone button is right next to the 'stop the alarm' button (the snooze button is on the top of the unit). What happened to me was that I stopped the alarm but went back to sleep for a few more minutes. Turned out I changed the timezone too, so I got a little shock when I got up.
. the alarm sound is crescendo, but I wish it starts out a little softer. The beeps are quite sharp.

This clock is an excellent buy. Use AC power so that the time is always displayed. This clock doesn't function as a good bed-side clock, however, because at night you have to press the top button for the screen to illuminate. Projection is crisp.

The first thing that surprised me about this clock, was its size. I'd only seen pictures of it online... so when I first saw the package, and the clock itself, it appeared much larger that I assumed it would be. Moot point I guess.

Upon installing the batteries, it started blinking. It only took about 4 minutes for the time to set iself... and I live in the Northeast. I familiarized myself with the buttons quickly. The instruction booklet is easy to read & understand... and I HATE reading instruction booklets!!!

The clock performs great. Illumination is very good. The alarm does the trick. Thermometer is very sensitive. Upright & reclining swivel stand is a "nice" little extra... as is the ability to plug it in! Also, should you leave the country, or for some unforseen catastrophe, the Atomic Clock in Colorado should cease to operate.... the clock's time CAN be set manually.

The ONLY mark against this item is where the instructions claim that the alarm can be stopped by pressing "any key". THAT is incorrect! It will only stop by hitting the ALARM key, which another reviewer pointed out, is right next to the ZONE key!

As this clock may seem pricey to some, consider this... if an accurate, low maintenance, "bell & whistle" digital clock is what you're after, THIS will fill the bill!
